Mildred "Millie" Jane Piarson, daughter of Jay (Jerry) and Aliene (Blievernicht) Piearson was born on June 16, 1951, in Volga, South Dakota. Millie passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 75.
Millie grew up west of Oldham, South Dakota, on the family farm and attended Oldham School. Following her education, she worked as a cook at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Alexandria, South Dakota, from 1970 to 1977. She later worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Sioux Falls as a nurse aide. In 1992, Millie moved to Brookings, South Dakota, where she worked as a nurse aide at Brookings Manor (The Neighborhoods) until 1998.
Faith in Christ was an important part of Millie's life. At the time of her passing, she was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Brookings. The love, support, and prayers of her church family were a source of great comfort and strength to her.
Millie enjoyed reading, spending time on her computer, and watching football.
Grateful for having shared her life are her sisters, Virginia McDonald of Madison, South Dakota; Maxine Unterbrunner (Scott) of Colman, South Dakota; and Vivian Vermillion (Keith) of Lebanon, Missouri. She is also survived by several nephews, Jason, Justin, Clark, Jordan, and Jacob; one niece, Julia; and many dear friends.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Aliene Piearson; and her brothers-in-law, Michael McDonald, Brett Hodges, and Larry Gantvoort.
Millie will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, SD. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on August 20, 2026, at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Brookings. Burial will follow at Saint Thomas More Catholic Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, Millie requested that memorials be directed to St. Thomas More Catholic School.
