Mildred Johnson, 101 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Park Place Assisted Living in Brookings. Funeral Services celebrating Mildred's life will be held  at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at the First Lutheran Church in Brookings with burial to follow at First Lutheran Cemetery, Brookings, SD. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Monday, August 27, 2018, at Eidsness Funeral Home.

Mildred Caroline Johnson was born on January 16, 1917, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Emma (Langner) Tillgren.

Milly moved to Brookings, South Dakota at an early age with her parents, where she attended school through 1935. She then continued her education at Paul's School of Hairdressing, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Milly was united in marriage to Raymond E. Johnson on September 4, 1938, in Brookings. After their marriage, they owned and operated a beauty shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The couple moved back to Brookings in 1944, and continued to make their home in the community. Ray died on June 15, 1990, in Brookings.

Milly was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Brookings. Throughout her life, Milly remained active playing cards, participating in gardening clubs, creating various crafts, and especially enjoyed entertaining and spending time with her family and many friends.

Milly is survived by her two sons: Phillip (Lola) Johnson, of Crosslake, MN, and Craig (Peggy) Johnson of Denver, CO; grandchildren: Doreen (Dave) McMillan of Aitkin, MN, Gregory Johnson, of Coon Rapids, MN, Anissa (Dan) Sparlin, of Cripple Creek, CO, and Courtney Johnson, of Westminster, CO; great-grandchildren: Elisabeth McMillan, Sarah McMillan, Aza-Rae Underwood, and Havlyn Underwood.

Milly was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Johnson; and her brothers and sister: Melvin Tillgren, Earl Tillgren, Glenn Tillgren, and Eleanor Wipf.
