Michelle Stuefen, 63, of Elkton, SD passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Brookings Hospital.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the United Parish of Elkton at 11:00 A.M.  Burial will immediately follow the service at the Elkton City Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to join the Stuefen family at the United Parish following burial for a meal and time of fellowship.  Visitation will be held the evening prior, Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Elkton from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the Stuefen family with arrangements.

Michelle Rae Stuefen was born on August 19, 1958, in Sioux Falls, SD to Melvin and Betty Lou DeMarteleare.  Throughout her youth, Michelle grew up in Elkton, SD, graduating from Elkton High School in 1976.

Michelle enjoyed meeting and visiting with customers, working at the Elkton C-Store, restaurant, and diner, as well as Concealite.  Perhaps her most important job in her life was that of mother to her four children-Pennie, Brittany, Travis, and Eric.

Michelle's greatest joy in life was her family.  She loved visiting with her family and friends, and especially spending time with her grandchildren (oftentimes spoiling them).  She had a truly kind spirit, often caring for elderly neighbors in their time of need.  Michelle also loved animals, particularly her dogs, whom she enjoyed taking for walks.  Her loving and caring spirit will be greatly missed.

Michelle is survived by her husband, Tom Stuefen; children: Pennie Skime, Brittany Clark, and Eric Stuefen; grandchildren: Devin, Amaya, Eric Thomas, Jayleigh, Mackenzie, Matthew, Jeremiah, Jericho, Johanna, Josie, Leo, and Eden; siblings: sister, Georgia Lang, brothers: David (Diane) DeMarteleare, Keith (Linda) DeMarteleare, and Kevin (Peggy Sue) DeMarteleare; numerous nieces, nephews, and many "bonus" children.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Melvin and Betty Lou DeMarteleare; son, Travis Stuefen; brother-in-law, Dean Lang; nephew, Dave Rearrick; her grandparents, and sister-in-law, Paula Wiskur.
