Merle Lutterman, age 91, of White, died Friday, July 18, 2014, at the White Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in White, with interment in Fairview Cemetery. Visitations will precede the funeral service at the church beginning at 12 noon. Merle Lutterman was born on June 30, 1923, in Brookings County, South Dakota, the son of Eilert and Jessie (Reiter) Lutterman. Merle attended Afton Township Number 12. He graduated from White High School in 1942. After graduating from High School he farmed with his brother David in Brookings County until his retirement in 1976. Merle was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. Merle was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his brother David spent many hours in their boat fishing throughout South Dakota. Some of his fondest memories were of goose hunting at Pierre. He loved the Green Bay Packers. Win or lose, he was a die-hard Packer fan. He entered the White Care Center in August of 2007. Survivors include two sisters, Edline Haugen of Canton, SD, and Lois Larson of North St. Paul, MN, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David and Henry; and sisters Clara Dupraz, Ella Lutterman, Alma Sterud, and Irene Weinger.
