Melvin Wright, 91, of White, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the Hendricks Community Hospital, in Hendricks, Minnesota. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 21, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in White with interment in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitations are preceding the services beginning at 12:00 noon at the church. Memorials may be directed to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church. Melvin Clifford Wright was born June 2, 1912, near White, South Dakota, to Claude and Anna (Midtaune) Wright. He was baptized and confirmed a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in White, South Dakota. Melvin attended country school and farmed with his mother and brother until his marriage to Clara Graslie on January 26, 1934. They celebrated their 70th anniversary this last January. They farmed in different areas until 1960, when they moved to Rapid City where they lived almost twelve years. Melvin was engaged in construction, maintenance, and janitor work while they lived there. In 1972 they moved back to White to retire. Melvin is survived by his wife, Clara, of White, South Dakota; three sons and two daughters: Ann Peterson of Lake Benton, Minnesota, Clarice (Orlen) Borns of Milbank, South Dakota, Clifford (Judy) Wright of White, Jim (D-Ann) Wright of Cedar Ridge, Colorado, and Richard (Lynea) Wright of White; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Alvin; one son-in-law, Melvin Peterson, and two infant grandchildren.
