Melvin "Dutch" Krumm, age 85 of Volga, passed away at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center on Friday, January 27, 2023.  Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Monday, January 30th at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga.  Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 31st at First Lutheran Church in Volga with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Dutch was born October 26, 1937, to Floyd and Mary (Pedersen) Krumm in Oakwood Township. He attended country school and then worked on the family farm until meeting the love of his life, Deloris (Dorrie) Egeberg. Dutch and Dorrie were married on August 18, 1957, in Milbank, South Dakota and then made their home in Volga. Dutch truly 'made their homes', building three houses as their family grew. He took great pride in his construction work, not only with Mills Construction, but for a time, having his own business. He also spent 11 years with Land 'O Lakes in Volga before retiring.

Always committed to the care and betterment of his community, Dutch served on local committees and was a member of the Volga Jaycees. He was particularly proud of the 30 years he spent on the Volga Fire Department as well as his 8 years as Fire Chief.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Carla (Randy) Blaisdell of Verona, WI, and Jennifer (Chris) Jackson of Lincoln, NE; four grandchildren: Bryan Blaisdell of Austin, TX, Kelli Blaisdell of Charleston, SC, Madeline and Emily Jackson of Lincoln, NE; one sister, Bev Nelson; one brother, Donald Krumm; five sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and 41 nieces and nephews. Dutch's 'family' often stretched to those he wasn't related to, including a bonus daughter, Rhonda Kottke, and special friends, Jason & Rebecca Hanssen, Landon, Carter and Alexis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris; son, Todd; two brothers, one sister, three sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law, two nieces, and five nephews.
