Melissa M. Granum, age 32, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at her residence in Brookings. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 29, 2008, at First Lutheran Church in Volga, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. Melissa Marie Granum was born April 10, 1976, at Brookings, South Dakota, to Ron and Pam (Olson) Granum. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Volga, and graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 1994. She worked for nine years at ADVANCE and at Brookview Manor for the past six years. She was a history major at SDSU. Melissa was a member of First Lutheran Church in Volga. She enjoyed going to movies and was a loving mother and daughter. She especially enjoyed spending time with her son, Alex. Survivors include her son, Alex Waller; her parents, Ron and Pam Granum, of Volga; a sister, Jody Rowen, of Brookings; a half-sister, Angel Ferguson, of Washington state; her grandmother, Arlene Granum, of Lake Campbell; three nieces and three nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sylvan Granum, and Russell and Elise Olson; and her uncle, Stuart Olson.
