Maynard Keimig, age 89, of Lake Norden, SD, or formerly of Brookings, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Avantara Lake Norden Nursing Home.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 10, 2023, at St. Thomas More Parish in Brookings with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery at Estelline, SD.

Maynard Keimig was born on February 5, 1934, in Gary, South Dakota, the son of Frank and Anna (Mirr) Keimig.  Maynard moved to Estelline, SD with his parents at the age of four. He received his education in the Estelline Schools.

Maynard farmed most of his adult life in Hamlin County, SD until 1980.  He then moved to the Seattle, Washington area where he was employed as a material handler for Boeing Airlines until 1995.

In 1995, he moved back to Rapid City, South Dakota, and later to Brookings. Maynard was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Brookings and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his children Raymond (Kristin) Keimig of Athens, AL, Allan (Sandy) Keimig of Perris, CA,  Julie (Joel) Ulschmid of Henry, SD,  Jim (Amy) Keimig of Watertown, SD, and Jeff "Opy" (Jennifer) Keimig of Henry, SD; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, and nine sisters.
