Mavis Pech, age 88, of Brookings, died Thursday, November 20, 2008, at her home in Brookings. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-7 P.M. Monday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.
Mavis Maxine (Jacobsen) Pech was born August 21, 1920, in Kingsbury County, South Dakota, to Willis and Christine (Petersen) Jacobsen. She attended country school and graduated from Arlington High School in 1940. On October 31, 1940, she married Lester Edward Pech at Rock Rapids, Iowa. They farmed until 1971, and Mavis worked at the SDSU Bookstore from 1968 until retiring in 1982. Lester died January 9, 2002.
Mavis was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings. She enjoyed crocheting, raising flowers, playing cards, and having coffee with her friends.
Survivors include two daughters: Sandra Molengraaf of Brookings, and Pat (Bill) Intermill of Lake Poinsett, SD; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Scott Molengraaf; son-in-law, Frank Molengraaf; three sisters: Alice Ringgaard, Cecile Albertsen, and Connie McCoy; three brothers: Raymond, Melvin, and Ernest Jacobsen; and two infant brothers, Ernest and Ray.
