Obituary

Mavis Parker, age 81, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment at First Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Friends of the Colorado Talking Book Library (FOCTBL) at 180 Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80226. FOCTBL Website is: WWW.2.cde.state.co.us. Eidsness Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mavis Ilene Parker (Belsner) was born February 24, 1934, in Hendricks, Minnesota, to Roy and Inga Belsner (Johnson). She graduated from the 8th grade in Elkton, SD. She later married Dale Parker on September 15, 1951, in Hendricks, Minnesota. They were married for 34 years until Dale passed away in 1986.

Mavis worked throughout her life for the Brookings Hospital, Brookings Public Schools, and South Dakota State University in food service. She was an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church until moving to Colorado to be close to her sons. She had a passion for traveling, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include her children: Kevin Parker of Pueblo West, Colorado, Gregory (Linda) of Aurora, Colorado; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Maxine (Ed) Hulsebus of Astoria. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dale Parker.
