Mary Roach, age 95, died Sunday, September 9, 2007, at the United Retirement Center in Brookings, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 13, 2007, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitations will precede services at the church. Mary Louise (McPeek) Roach was born June 4, 1912, at Willow Lake, South Dakota, to Benjamin and Ethel (Wyman) McPeek. She graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1930. On November 30, 1935, she married Floyd W. Roach at Madison, South Dakota. The couple moved to Bruce in 1937 and to Brookings in 1941 where Mary worked as a waitress for local cafes. Floyd died March 17, 1978. Mary was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings and was involved in Circle. She was active in Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, dancing, and playing cards. Survivors include her son, Al (Carol) Roach, of Brookings; four grandchildren: Steve (Shauna) Roach of Brookings, Gregg (Tammy) Roach of Brookings, Vicki (Tim) Jensen of Aurora, South Dakota, and Tom (Penny) Roach of Englewood, Colorado; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers: Wayne, Orvin, and Shirley McPeek.
