Departed this life on Sunday, May 1st, 2016 is MARY ELIZABETH (CHADBURN) COBB.

She was born in the City of New York on the 20th of May, 1946, to parents Robert Arthur Chadburn and his wife, Edna, nee Stuerke.  She received Christian Baptism on the 6th of October of that year.

She grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania where, through a nearby location, her father played a significant role in the engineering and maintenance of the U.S. nuclear submarine fleet.

Mary migrated to California, graduated from college, and worked for many years as a computer engineer.  She became active in a Missouri Synod congregation there and, with local blessing, went on and began preparation for the pastoral ministry.  She graduated with a M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary and after spending an additional "Lutheran year" at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN.  Was called and ordained into the ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America on October, 2002.

She received and accepted the call to serve Rolling Hills Parish in North Dakota.  (Benedict, Sawyer, and Butte)

On April 4th, 2011, she married Dr. John Moser Cobb and shortly thereafter colloquized and was received into the clergy membership of Augsburg Lutheran Churches and then also the North American Lutheran Church.

At the time of her passing, she was active with her husband in the publication of Der deutsche Lutheraner in Nordamerika (The German Lutheran in North America) and in assisting with pastoral ministry at Bethesda Home and Health in Willmar, MN.

She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband John of Stuartburn, Manitoba; her son by a previous marriage, William Johnson, of Bentonville, Arkansas; together with grandchildren Jessica Connie Lynn and Jacob Allen Johnson; her brother, Art (Donna) Chadburn in North Carolina; and numerous friends and colleagues, especially at the Institute of Lutheran Theology in Brookings, SD, where she had been on staff and was engaged in Graduate Studies at the time of her passing.

May her soul rest in peace; God comfort family and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Boniface Hospital in St. Boniface, MB and Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB, especially Dr. Darren Reimer and also Dr. Olha Ulanovych at the Medical Clinic in Vita, MB for the conscientious care which they have given Mary.
