Martha Ruth (Koch) Weischedel, born on March 28, 1934, at home near Gettysburg, SD.  She died Sunday, February 18, 2018, in Brookings, SD.

Martha, known by many in her younger years as Cookie, married Clayton Weischedel on August 20, 1955. They had five children together and spent their married years in Pierre, SD.

Martha had a very giving, caring heart and spent 30 years as a Certified Nurse's Assistant in Pierre and Brookings. In Brookings everyone knew Martha as Marty, as she walked everywhere and was very outgoing and friendly.  Brookings became home to Marty, who loved her church and Pastor and friends at First Assembly of God, and it was a real refuge for her.

Marty became a resident of The Neighborhoods at Brookview in January 2016. The wonderful staff at the Neighborhoods took very good care of Marty, treating her with respect and dignity right up to her last breath.

Marty is preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, two sons and one daughter. She is survived by one sister and two daughters, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, whom she never got to meet.

Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 20, 2018, in the Chapel at The Neighborhoods at Brookview. Eidsness Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
