Marlynn Broksieck, age 82, of Brookings, died Sunday, December 4, 2016, at the United Living Community in Brookings. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church in Brookings with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Due to a prior family commitment, visitations will be held Thursday, December 8, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at Eidsness Funeral Home.

Marlynn D. Broksieck was born on June 17, 1934, in Watertown, SD, the son of Alvin and Mazie (Tribitt) Broksieck. He grew up near Bemis, SD and was a graduate of Clear Lake High School in 1952. Marlynn was united in marriage to LaVonne Schiefelbein on October 21, 1956, in Clear Lake, SD. He was employed with Northwestern Public Service for over 37 years, retiring in 1994. Marlynn also served in the Army National Guard for 21 years.

Marlynn was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Brookings. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, and following the Brookings Bobcats.

Survivors include his wife, LaVonne; one son, Chad (Diane); one daughter, Jan (LeRoy) Trenary; two grandsons, Tate and Trent Broksieck all of Brookings; one brother, Don (Donna) Broksieck of Bonner Springs, KS; one sister, Cheri Cody of Omaha, NE and a host of other relatives and friends . He was preceded in death by his parents.
