Marjorie Anne Selken, age 92, of Brookings, died Friday, June 5, 2015, at United Living Community in Brookings. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015, at Eidsness Funeral Home with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery at Estelline, SD. Visitations will be 4-6 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Eidsness Funeral Home. Marjorie was born June 28, 1922, in Peru, NE, to Glen and Barbara (Francis) Tucker. At an early age, Marj moved to South Dakota. Her family lived in the Black Hills for four years and then settled in Volga, SD. She graduated from Volga High School in 1939. Marj married Arnold Willard Selken on January 30, 1942, in Volga. She attended nurses' training at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. Marj worked as a secretary in the extension office at SDSU and then as a nurse at the Ivanhoe, MN, Hospital. She was a member of Morningside Community Church, and a member of the Women of the Church of God. Marj loved to collect antiques, and was a member of the Antique Dealer's Association. She won numerous blue ribbons for her baking and for the collies she raised. Survivors include her children: James (Karen) Selken of Wahpeton, ND, Daniel (Kathleen) Selken of Big Lake, MN, and Patricia Dotter of Punta Gorda, FL.; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Elaine Tucker, of Volga; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; son, Larry; two brothers; and one sister.
