Marjorie deBlonk, age 95, of Brookings, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Dakota Sun Assisted Living in Volga, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Home with a public Order of the Eastern Star service at 7:00 P.M. Eva Marjorie (Hind) deBlonk was born March 21, 1908, at Cherokee, Iowa, to Raymond and Pearl (Forsman) Hind. She moved with her family to the Toronto, South Dakota, area and later to Brookings, where Marjorie graduated from high school in 1927. She was employed at the Brookings Laundry prior to her marriage. On September 1, 1936, she married Gerard deBlonk at Cherokee, Iowa. Gerard died May 23, 1997. Marjorie was life-long member of the United Methodist church, serving in a variety of capacities with the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Senior Citizens, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and Brookings Chapter No. 15 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include a son, Gerald (Nancy) deBlonk, of Volga; five grandchildren: Jay deBlonk of Volga, Tom deBlonk of Sioux Falls, and Russell deBlonk of Brookings, Larry (Donna) Hale Jr. of Baltimore and Christie Hale of Baltimore; a brother, Don (Betty) Hind, of Brookings; two sisters: Eleanor Spingola of California and Bernice Green of Arlington, South Dakota; and a son-in-law, Larry Hale, of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Carol Ann; and brother, Kenneth.
