Marion L. Groth, 94, of Elkton, died Sunday, July 3, 2016, at the Divine Providence Medical Center in Ivanhoe, Minnesota. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the United Parish, 710 Cornell Avenue in Elkton, with interment in the Elkton City Cemetery. Lunch and fellowship at the church will follow the interment. Eidsness Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Marion Louise (Jensen) Groth was born September 21, 1921, at Brookings, South Dakota, to Alfred and Minnie (Hegerfeld) Jensen. She attended country school in Brookings County and graduated from Aurora High School in 1939. During the war, she worked at numerous defense plants in the Baltimore, Maryland, area before coming back to Sioux Falls to work at the phone company and before her marriage to Robert E. Groth, Jr. on May 9, 1950, at Luverne, Minnesota. They lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota,  Billings, Montana, and Geddes, South Dakota, where they farmed. During her sales career, Marion sold Fuller Brush, Stanley Home Products, and many other products over the years. In 1982 they moved to Elkton to assist her mother, Minnie L. Jensen.

Marion was a member of the United Parish of Elkton. She and Bob enjoyed dancing and especially enjoyed raising flowers and vegetables which she liked to share with the community.  She was well-known for her spunk and vigor and always enjoyed a good story.

Survivors include her son, Lawrence (Rosemary) Groth of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Veronica (Groth) Bender of Seattle, Erik Groth and Tara Groth of Sioux Falls; two precious great-grandchildren, Ivory and Owen; other extended family; and many special friends that helped her stay in her home for much longer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob, in 2010; a son, Robert E. "Bud" Groth, III; and two brothers: Robert and Lawrence Jensen.
