Obituary

Marie J. Wiskur, age 81, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, surrounded by her family at her home near Elkton, South Dakota, of brain cancer. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Elkton, with interment in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Friday at Eidsness-Zink Funeral Chapel in Elkton, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Marie Joan (Mueller) Wiskur was born August 2, 1922, at Tyler, Minnesota, to Carl and Bertha (Winz) Mueller. She attended country school in District No. 49 near Tyler. On April 21, 1946, she married Arnold Bud Wiskur at Elkton. They farmed north of Elkton where Marie continued to reside after Buds death on January 1, 2001. Marie enjoyed reading, baking, embroidery, and quilting, and she presented her children and grandchildren with beautiful quilts. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Survivors include her children: Betty (Gaylord) Struve of Houston, Texas, Linda (James) Gries of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Sharon (Roger) Peterson of Omaha, Nebraska, and William Bill (De) Wiskur of Elkton; six grandchildren: Thomas Gries, Jaime Gries, Bradley (Kerri) Peterson, Julie (Randy) Launsby, Christopher Struve, and Ryan Wiskur; five great-grandchildren: Cole and Korinn Peterson, Kaleigh and Ashlyn Launsby, and Hallie Pederson; four step-grandchildren: Tamara (Paul) Schmidt, Jodi (Tom) Rops, Judy (Tim) Tekautz, and Kevin Swartos; seven step-great-grandchildren: Garrett, Wyatt, and Ellie Schmidt, Trenton and Jayson Rops, and McCoy and Sophia Tekautz; two sisters: Louise Wiskur of Elkton, and Maxine (Archie) Taxdahl, of Waseca, Minnesota; and two brothers: Richard (Joan) Mueller of Redfield, South Dakota, and John (Rosalie) Mueller of Danbury, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a grandson, Travis Wiskur.
