Marie Leins, age 95, of Hendricks, Minnesota, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at the Hendricks Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Monday, September 15, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hendricks, with interment at St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Cemetery near White, South Dakota. Visitations will be from 2-5 P.M. Sunday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.
Marie Margaret (Schoeneman) Leins was born April 12, 1913, at Rock Rapids, Iowa, to William Francis and Kathryn (Hollander) Schoeneman. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to Ward, South Dakota, where she attended school and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. On February 17, 1933, she married Marvin L. Leins at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They lived nine years near Elkton, two years near White, by Astoria from 1944 until 1971, and in Colorado from 1971 until 1974. They lived northwest of Lake Benton for 15 years, moving to Hendricks in 1988. Marvin died March 25, 1993.
Marie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hendricks. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking buns for special family occasions, doing puzzles, and playing Rummikub.
Survivors include two sons: Lyle (Judy) Leins of Ivanhoe, Minnesota, and Clifford (Ardelle) Leins of Sundance, Wyoming; two daughters: Marilyn (Robert) Moberg of Bruce, South Dakota, and Delores (Vergil) Benz, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Vernice Visser, of Fredericksburg, Texas; and two sisters-in-law: Helen Schoeneman of Flandreau, South Dakota, and Laura Jane Schoeneman of Brookings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; two brothers, Chris Schoeneman and Albert Schoenman; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Moberg.
