Mardella Lou Buchenau was born on March 7, 1934, in Elkton, SD.  She was the daughter of Roy F. and Adele Mary (Hammer) Bebensee.  She died September 2nd, at home.

She moved to Colton, SD with her family and then back to Elkton in 1943, and onto Brookings in 1952.   She was a graduate of the Elkton High School in 1952.  In 1953, she married Delmer "Stub" Harvey.  From 1952 to 1954, she was employed as a secretary at Dakota Farms.

From 1969 until 1972, she worked for Steen Bookkeeping.  On April 27, 1972, she married George Buchenau in Watertown, SD.  From 1976 until 1996, she was employed at SDSU Station Biochemistry as a bookkeeper.

Mardella enjoyed golfing, reading, puzzles, crocheting and walking.  She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, George, her daughter Kris (Doug) Rahm, sons Steven Harvey, Kevin (Dawn) Harvey, Bill (Velvet) Buchenau and daughter-in-law Sandra (Bob) Buchenau.

Mardella was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Eleanor Bosch and son Bob Buchenau.

Private family memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.
