Obituary

Marcella Denman, age 78 of Tyler, TX, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, while on hospice care.  Private family graveside services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Trinity Cemetery in Volga, SD, with a reception to follow at the Volga Christian Reformed Church basement starting at 1:30P.M.

Born to Ben & Gert Meyer on February 14, 1945 - Marcella Jeanne Meyer Denman was the 3rd of seven children. Growing up on the family farm where they were taught first and foremost to live for the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to share His love with others. They worked and played hard together. They loved well and prayed always. Here is where the incredible foundation of Faith was laid that would define her well lived life.

Marcella attended Volga Christian School, went to Edgerton High School in Minnesota for her Freshman and Sophomore years then went home to graduate from Volga High School. From High School she went to Dordt College for two years before teaching in DeMott, Indiana. She returned to Dordt College to complete her Bachelor's degree in education. After graduation, she moved to Monroe, WA and taught there for two years before finishing her career at Highland Christian School in Highland, IN.

After moving to Grand Rapids, MI, she enjoyed many service opportunities. She assisted the family by providing childcare and after the children were of school age, she spent time visiting and providing care for elderly friends. She was always happiest when she was able to serve God by serving others. Shortly after arriving in Texas, she began tutoring out of her home. She was able to provide many children with not only academic help and lessons, but life lessons as well. She always shared her faith with the children and their families.  Marcella always enjoyed attending church and being involved in Bible Studies, whenever possible.

Her hobbies included crocheting and basket making. She also loved writing and became an author in 2010 when Blessed Beyond Expression, My Life God's Story was the fruition of a lifelong desire to find yet another way to share the goodness of her God!

Marcella is survived by her daughter Tarra. Also by her siblings Gloria Tjolker, Texas, Linda Vostad, Michigan, Steven Meyer, South Dakota, Faye Weidenfeller, Michican, and their families. Sisters in Law Judy Meyer, Michigan and Barb Wiese, Minnesota and their families.
