Mae I. Buller, age 81, of Brookings, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at the United Retirement Center in Brookings. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery at Brookings. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Mae Isabell (Overend) Buller was born October 28, 1926, in Richland Township near Bushnell, South Dakota, to Simon and Louise (Rust) Overend. She attended country school and graduated from Brookings High School in 1944. She attended Madison Normal School and then taught in rural schools for six years. On September 10, 1950, she married William C. Buller in Brookings. They farmed southeast of Brookings. Bill died August 13, 1997. Mae was a member of First United Methodist Church and active in church circle. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. Survivors include her five children: twins, Diane Buller of Carter Lake, Iowa, and David Buller of Brookings, Gary (Diane) Buller of Champaign, Illinois, Doug (Vickie) Buller of Brookings, and Randy (Carolyn) Buller of Apple Valley, Minnesota; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers: Marvin (Kay) Overend of Brookings and Robert (Pat) Overend of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Mamie Herrick, of Brookings; and a brother-in-law, Ervin Scharke, of Elkton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters: Dorothy and Margaret; and two brothers: William and Edward.
