Lois Irene (Thomssen) Mottaz was born September 18, 1927, at White, South Dakota, to Alfred and Lillian (Jetter) Thomssen. She died Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at the Brookings Hospital in Brookings, South Dakota. Lois attended school at White. On March 2, 1968, she married Jim Mottaz. They lived in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Texas, where Jim died February 28, 1987. Lois then moved to White. She moved to the White Care Center in 2001. Lois was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in White. She enjoyed crafts, word puzzles, knitting and crocheting. Survivors include five step-children: Jean Koepke of Livingston, Texas, Christine (Terry) Reoh of Finlayson, Minnesota, Marelee Jeanne of Sac City, Iowa, Jayme Mottaz of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Terry (Sherry) Mottaz of Center City, Minnesota; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Evangeline (Frank) Wiener, of White; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Donna Mae Kick and Lucille Gredvig; and two infant brothers: Donald and Hugh Gerald Thomssen.
