Linda Smallfield age 66, of Elkton, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, August 1, 2011, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Elkton, with interment in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday at Eidsness-Zink Funeral Chapel in Elkton. Linda Lee (Olson) Smallfield was born February 14, 1945, in Hayfield, Minnesota, to W. Wayne and Carol (Blum) Olson. The family moved to Arnold's Park, Iowa in 1947 and in 1957 to Dubuque, Iowa, where Linda graduated from high school in 1963. In 1965, she moved to Estherville, Iowa, where she worked as a receptionist at Golden Sun Feeds until 1968. On September 24, 1966, she married Duane Smallfield at Estherville. The Smallfields lived near Elkton, and Linda worked as a medical transcriptionist at the Yorkshire Eye Clinic from 1985 until 2010. Linda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkton where she was active in the ladies aid and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Elkton Women's Club and enjoyed working with flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Duane Smallfield, of Elkton; three children: Ted (Stacy) Smallfield of Sioux Falls, Tom Smallfield of Elkton, and Amy (Shawn) Jelen of Ivanhoe, Minnesota; four grandchildren: Chloe, Andrew, and Owen Smallfield, and Brooklyn Jelen; a sister, Janine (Kim) Haines, of Alliance, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Gail and Larry Olson.
