Linda Montgomery, age 66, of Brookings, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at First Baptist Church in White, preceded by interment in Fairview Cemetery at White. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Friday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to First Baptist Church in White, or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Linda Lee (Even) Montgomery was born October 5, 1947, in Hendricks, Minnesota, to Robert and Gloria (Clipper) Even. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of ten at Camp Shetek. She was actively involved at First Baptist Church in White and was the church organist since the age of 14. Linda was united in marriage to George Montgomery on September 10, 1966, in White. They lived in Windom, Minnesota, for a year and a half before moving back to Brookings. Linda worked at several local businesses before she and George along with her sister and brother-in-law, Peg and Nate Jordan, purchased the Dairy Queen in Brookings in 1990. They operated the Dairy Queen for 17 years. Linda enjoyed playing the piano, spending time at their home in Branson, traveling, and spoiling her grandchildren. She displayed her love through countless acts of giving; this generosity will grace the memories of many. Grateful to have been a part of her life are George, her husband of 47 years; her daughter, Jill (Wes) Pratt, of Conroe, Texas, and son, Scott (Julia) Montgomery, of Bettendorf, Iowa; grandchildren: Hayden and KayLee Pratt, and Cole and Jade Montgomery; step-grandchildren, Casey and Megan Carr; her parents, Robert and Gloria Even, of Elkton; sister, Peg Jordan, of Brookings; and brother, Rick (Anna) Even, of Elkton.
