Linda Kay Carlson, age 71, of White, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019, at home under hospice care. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 P.M. Linda was born February 10, 1948, to Glenn and Helena (Novak) Leasure in Wagner, SD. She attended school thru the 12 th grade in Lake Andes, SD.  On December 29, 1964, Linda married Donald Carlson.  They later moved to Oklahoma, and then back to South Dakota, where she resided until the time of her passing.

Linda worked in food service her entire working career. She worked for various restaurants in the White area until 1995.  At which time, she and Don purchased the Palace Café and operated it until ill health forced her to retire in May of this year. Linda was not just a restaurant owner but a special friend to many people of all ages. People came from miles around to enjoy her homemade pies and donuts and her hospitality. Along with serving the 60 Plus Dining group, she also personally delivered meals to the homebound. She also catered many special events for others. Linda's Palace Cafe was a place where many farmers and local business owners gathered for coffee, dice and conversation, and where ladies met for coffee and fellowship. It was also a place where high school kids gathered every day after school for cheese balls and malts. And also a meeting place for the rock picking crew!

Linda truly loved her family and enjoyed much cherished time with her grandchildren. She was also a devoted and faithful member of St. Paul's Catholic Parish, where she served on the parish council and lunch committee and also as a CCD teacher.  Linda was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed gardening, riding motorcycle, and would never turn down an opportunity to take a trip to the casino.

Survivors include her husband, Don; children, Shannon (Karen) Carlson, Julie Westberg, Susie (Corey) Rennich, and Jennifer Carlson; grandchildren, Devon (Katelyn) Carlson, Kamelia Carlson, Kelli Westberg, Michael Westberg, Ashley (Styles) Brown, Brittany Rennich, Jayden (Caitlyn) Rennich, Janie Carlson, Jozie Carlson, and Jakoby Carlson; great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Braelyn, Kylie, Allana, Kayden, Kaylee, Brantley, Braxton, Carson, Bentlee, Kyron, Jailyn; brother, Ronnie (Sherry) Leasure; and sister, Nancy Meyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kimberly Kay Carlson; Sister, Mary Ann Gates, brothers-in-law, Vincent Gates and Robert Meyer.
