LeVone J. Jerred, age 84, of White, died Thursday, September 8, 2011, at the White HealthCare Center in White, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, September 12, 2011, at the Morningside Community Church in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Brookings. Visitations will precede the funeral services at the chuch. LeVone Joice (Nielsen) Jerred was born June 27, 1927, at South Lake Poinsett, South Dakota, to Matthew and Gerda (Svane) Nielsen. She attended several different schools growing up, and graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Along with her brother Donald, she attended Bible College in Gordon, Nebraska, and later Huron Bible College in Huron, South Dakota. LeVone met Erwin Jerred at the First Church of God Bible Camp one summer. On January 1, 1948, she married Erwin L. Jerred at the First Church of God, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple farmed with Erwin's parents near White until 1950 when they purchased their own farm near White. Erwin passed away May 24, 2005. LeVone was a member of the First Church of God (Morningside Community Church) in Brookings where she taught Bible School and Sunday School. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening. She especially enjoyed being outside and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughter, Marlys (Roland) Vant Hul, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; one son Laverne (Lynne) Jerred, of White, South Dakota; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a special friend, Jen Carlson, of White. She was preceded in death by her parents: Matthew and Gerda; her husband, Erwin; a daughter, Marlene Jerred, May 16, 2010; an infant sister, Phyllis; and a brother, Rev. Donald Nielsen, July 30, 2011.
