LeRoy Brown, age 75, died Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at his home in Elkton, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the United Parish of Elkton, with interment in the Elkton City Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-8 P.M. Friday at Eidsness-Zink Funeral Chapel in Elkton.
LeRoy Karl Brown was born October 10, 1934, at Hendricks, Minnesota, to Roy and Elsie (Jensen) Brown. He grew up on the farm ten miles north of Elkton and attended country school. On September 12, 1959, he married Phyllis Ward. She died December 16, 1978. He married Kathryn Janssen on March 16, 1980. LeRoy was engaged in farming and dealing in livestock, and trucking for local farmers and dairies.
LeRoy was a member of the United Parish of Elkton. He enjoyed dancing, having coffee, and collecting eagles.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Brown, of Elkton; three daughters: Carol (Greg) Jensen of Elkton, Karen Mackey of Devils Lake, North Dakota, and Kristin (Travis) Ness of Cheyenne, Wyoming; seven grandchildren: Becky, Jerry, Steve, Amanda, Mike, John, and Lacey; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mavis Diedrich of Brookings, Barb Ellen Wilking of Sioux Falls, and Verlo Brown of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Elsie Brown; a brother, Melvin; and his first wife, Phyllis.
