Leonard F. Tolk, age 84, of Estelline, died Sunday, September 26, 2004, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 30, 2004, at Eidsness Funeral Home. Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 1, at First Lutheran Cemetery in Brookings. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials. Leonard Frederick Tolk was born May 30, 1920, in Moody County, South Dakota, to Charles and Hulda (Voight) Tolk. He grew up in Moody County. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from June 1942 until October 1945. On February 15, 1946, he married Anna Marie Brodersen at Flandreau, South Dakota. The couple moved to Elkton where Leonard drove truck and then farmed. He worked as a security guard at the 3M plant in Brookings for over 14 years, retiring in 1985. He and Ann moved to Estelline about ten years ago. Leonard was a member of Glenn Stafford American Legion Post No. 198 of Elkton. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Ann, of Estelline; five children: Jack (Linda) Tolk of Estelline, South Dakota, LeAnn Tolk and her fiance Jim Miczwa of Hudson, Wisconsin, Terry (Bonnie) Tolk of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Leonard K. Tolk of Oakland, California, and Rhonda (Jay) Hodge of Thousand Oaks, California; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a half- brother, Charles Tolk of Sheldon, Iowa; and two half-sisters, Deanna Liddiard of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Marilyn (Jack) Mewborne of Lancaster, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kirby Tolk; and a sister, Mildred Weber.
