Obituary

Leonard E. Buster Baker, age 94, of Elkton, died Thursday, November 24, 2005, at Riverview Manor in Flandreau, South Dakota. Funeral services have been postponed to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church at Elkton, with interment in the Pipestone Cemetery at Pipestone, Minnesota. Visitations will be from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness-Zink Funeral Chapel in Elkton. Leonard E. Baker was born March 3, 1911, at State Center, Iowa, to Leonard and Emma (Lampe) Baker. He attended school in Pipestone County, Minnesota. On August 27, 1934, he married Mae J. Rollefson at Pipestone. The Bakers farmed for many years near Elkton, and moved into town in 1993. Buster also shelled corn and was active remodeling homes. He and Mae provided musical entertainment for many nursing homes in the area and at other community events. They enjoyed traveling together, and spent several winters in Arizona and Texas. They were selected King and Queen of the Rio Grand Valley of the Wintering People while in Texas. Buster was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Elkton. Survivors include his wife, Mae, of Flandreau; four children: Joyce (John) Kramer of Elkton, Harvey (Koyla) Baker of Mason City, Iowa; Barbara (Richard) Landsman of Elkton; and Kenneth (Judy) Baker of Lexington, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a brother Harold Baker, of Willmar, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin children; six sisters: Nellie, Avenel, Hazel, Bernice, Lucille, and Helen; and two brothers: Frank and John.
