Leland Gerry Bass, age 91, a resident of Brookings for the past five years and formerly a resident of Baker, MT, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at the United Living Community in Brookings. Visitation will be 4-6 P.M. on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at First Assembly of God Church in Brookings.  Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 9, 2020, also at the church with burial to follow at First Lutheran Cemetery in Brookings. The funeral service will be officiated by Lee's son, Pastor Gerry Bass as well as his grandsons, Pastor Greg and Pastor Gerry L. Music will be provided by Lee's grandson, Pastor Jeremy and granddaughter, Angie.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brookings Assembly of God Church.

Leland Gerry Bass was born October 23, 1928, in Brush, Colorado, to Gerry and Gladys (Grimes) Bass. He married the love of his life, Dollie Massengale on April 4, 1948, in Fort Morgan, Colorado.  Lee was a retired employee of Shell Oil Company.

Lee and Dollie moved to Brookings, SD, from Baker, MT, in 2015, to be close to family. Lee was an active member of the Assembly of God Church.  In the Assembly of God Churches Lee attended, he was very active in ministry. He served as an Adult Sunday School Teacher, as well as a Deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Dollie Bass; daughter, Donna Robinson; son, Pastor Gerry (Cathy) Bass all of Brookings; four grandchildren, Pastor Greg (Sue) Robinson of Rapid City, Angie (Don) Niehs of Lenaxa, KS, Pastor Jeremy (Joan) Robinson of Brookings, and Pastor Gerry L. (Sarah) Bass of Becker, MN; seven great-grandchildren: Desirae, Ashton, Hayley, Jace, Kailee, Madison, and Faith; two sisters, Jean of Bend, OR and Eleanor of Salem, OR; two brothers-in-law, Del of Redmond, OR, and Bernie of Ft. Worth, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Lillian Reed and Doreen Pippitt.
