Lee Alden Sterud, age 50, of Watertown, South Dakota, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the Prairie Lakes Healthcare System in Watertown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Eidsness Funeral Home.
Lee was born on April 11, 1967 to Loyd and Donna Kay (Holm) Sterud in Deadwood, SD. He lived in western South Dakota until he was three. At which time, his family moved to Brookings where he lived until adulthood. Lee was currently working for Persona in Watertown, SD.
Lee loved spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. He enjoyed music and singing, and spending time with his beloved dogs; Gabby, Emmi, and Chloe. Lee also had a passion for antiquing.
After years of battling addiction, Lee was very proud of his sobriety. He started and facilitated the Watertown Narcotics Anonymous and was set to graduate from drug and alcohol court on Friday, June 16, 2017.
Survivors include the love of his life and soul mate, Jodi Nelson; his daughter, Lyndsi Sterud and grandson Abel; his parents, Loyd and Donna Kay Sterud; step-children; Jayson Deknikker (Bridgette) and Shelby Nelson; grandchildren, Chris, Zoey, Nora, and Jude; and his sisters, Darla Ratajczak and Becky Williamson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dick O'Dean, niece Amber Moad, uncles Dick and Bill Holm, and Pat Smith; aunt, Ardyce Sterud, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
