LaVonne Owens, age 83, of Hendricks, MN, and formerly of Brookings passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Hendricks Nursing Home.  Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery.  The procession will begin at 10:45 A.M. from Eidsness Funeral Home going to Greenwood Cemetery.

LaVonne was born on July 3, 1940, in Brookings, SD, to Magnus and Pearl (Lakeman) Nelson.  She grew up in Brookings and graduated from Brookings High School.  LaVonne worked for Juliens Bakery for years before transferring to food service at SDSU.  She later worked for Midtex until her retirement.

LaVonne loved spending time with family, baking goodies for every occasion, and playing card games with friends and family.  We could not have asked for a better or loving mom!

Survivors include her children; Lonna Biegger of Des Moines, Iowa, and Myers Owens of Brookings; and grandchildren:  Abby Biegger, Jacob Biegger, Cody Owens, and Nick Owens.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Linda Neslon-DeMent and Darrell Nelson.
