Obituary

Larry Scott, age 63, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, in a car accident, near Sinai, South Dakota. Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 17, 2009, at the Volga Christian Reformed Church. Visitations will be from 4-7 P.M. Friday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga.

Larry Levern Scott was born January 26, 1945, at Watertown, South Dakota, to Vern and Teresa (Terpstra) Scott. He attended country school at Bemis through the eighth grade while helping his parents with the family farm. He continued to farm with his dad until 1972.
On June 23, 1967, he married Betty Molengraaf at the Volga Christian Reformed Church. The couple lived in Bemis while Larry continued to farm with his father. In April 1972, Larry and Betty moved to Volga. They started their family there and Larry worked for the creamery and then the elevator. In October of that year they moved to Sinai. Larry worked for the elevator there until about 1986. From then until 1994 Larry performed various jobs for farmers and even two years at Raven Industries. In 1994 he went to work for the Madison Community Hospital until poor health forced him to retire in 2004.

Larry was a long time member of the Volga Christian reformed Church. He was an active member of the Sinai Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Larry enjoyed playing horseshoes in his younger days and later enjoyed the friends and conversation of the Coffee Club of Sinai.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Scott, of Sinai; four sons: Chris, Tim and Jamie all of Sinai, and Jason (Natalie) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; four grandchildren; and one brother, Merwin Scott of Kranzburg, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Luvern and Eugene; and one sister Joyce Tekrony.
