Larry K. Pederson, age 64, of Brookings, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Arlington, South Dakota. Memorial services will be 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga, with visitations from 5-7 P.M. Larry Keith Pederson was born April 1, 1947, at Brookings, South Dakota, to Dale K. and Jean (Erickson) Pederson. He attended Volga Public School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, from 1964 until 1968. He married Diane Hall in 1965 at Santa Clara, California; Becky Simmons in 1975 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Debra Krumm on February 9, 1996. Larry worked for Quality Tool and Prunty Construction at various times since 1996. He was employed as a groundskeeper at the Brookings Country Club in 2009 and 2010. He enjoyed pool, horseshoes, bowling, cards, and dancing. Survivors include his wife, Debra, of Brookings; four children: Sheila Pederson of Brentwood, California, Shannon Pederson of Sacramento, California, Shelene Pederson of Coquille, Oregon, and Delane Pederson of Algona, Iowa; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and brothers and sisters: Ken (Nila) Pederson of Brewster, Minnesota, Tom Pederson of Sioux Falls, Wendi (Jim) Peterson of Volga, Deanna (Kevin) Wilson of Volga, and Eric (Karie) Benson of Volga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Gaylord Benson in 2004, his father, Dale Pederson, in 1993, and a sister, Deb Novak, in 2010.
