Kenneth R. Kinner, age 73, of Elkton, died Saturday, December 6, 2003, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, of emphysema. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota, with interment at Memorial Hill Cemetery at Lake Benton. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Monday at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church. Memorials may be directed to the church stained glass window fund. Kenneth Richard Kinner was born June 5, 1930, to Rueben and Edna (Motter) Kinner at Elkton, South Dakota. He graduated from Lake Benton High School in the class of 1948. He was senior class president. On April 9, 1950, he married Doreen Cyriacks. They worked and raised their children on a farm northwest of Lake Benton. Doreen preceded him to heaven in 1980. On June 12, 1981, Kenneth married Patricia (Patty) Mayer Hauer. In 1986, he and Patty moved to the Minneapolis area where he worked until his retirement in 1999. Kenneth enjoyed Sid Hartman, WCCO Sports, the Gophers, Twins, and was a die-hard Vikings fan, for the good, bad, and even currently. Most important in his life was his Sunshine Patty, his first love, Doreen, his seven children, 18 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He loved visiting and sharing his memories and the valued qualities that he felt were important in life. All who met Ken greatly benefited from his never-ending generous heart (spirit). He was a member of St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Patty, of Elkton; sons, Lyle and Kim Kinner and Keith and Debbie Kinner, all of Elkton; daughter Helen and Don Drietz of Lake Benton; sons Steven and Sandy Hauer of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and Richard and Angie Hauer of Plover, Wisconsin; daughters Julie Hauer and special friend, Larry Charnas, of Minneapolis and Karen and Mike Cox of Reno, Nevada; grandchildren: Kellie Betz, Amber, April, Kyle and Hope Kinner, Chris, Nicki, Nathan, and Kelsey Kinner, Dallas, Dayton, Dustin, Velvet, and Krystal Drietz, Mindy and Matt Hauer, Katie and Emily Hauer; great-grandchildren: Shelby and Chelsea Betz and Julie Drietz; brothers: Calvin and Joyce Kinner of Brookings and Bruce and Alice Kinner of Elkton; and sisters: Shirley and Lee Foerster of Luverne, Minnesota, and Bernita Crapser of Sioux Falls; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, outlaws, co-workers, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Doreen, his parents, and an infant daughter, Elise, and is now in heaven with them, along with Patty's first husband, Donald, and their son Danny.
