Kenneth F. Curley, age 68, of Brookings, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Brookings Hospital. No services are planned. Kenneth Francis Curley was born March 26, 1946, at Mitchell, South Dakota, to Willard and Viola (Phillippi) Curley. He moved to Huron with his family at a young age, and attended St. Theresa Catholic School through the eighth grade. He graduated from Huron High School in 1964, and Huron College. On August 10, 1968, Ken married Carolyn Gunderson at Huron. The couple lived at Howard, then Watertown where Ken taught school for a year. He attended graduate school at Bemidji State College for a time before beginning a career in journalism and public relations in several states, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Wyoming. He returned to South Dakota in the late 1990s and worked for the Arlington Sun and as a technical writer for Daktronics. He began working as the editor of the Brookings Register in August 2005. Ken is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Brookings. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Stanley.
