Ida K. "Kay" Bauman, age 67, of Bruce, died Sunday, November 3, 2013, at her home under hospice care surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Bruce, with interment at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. Kay was born April 25, 1946, in Brookings to Lewis and Frieda (Walter) Holter. She attended grade school in District No. 57 country school near Bruce. She graduated from Bruce High School in 1964. Kay married Roger Bauman on March 26, 1965, at Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce. She was a stay-at-home mom until her children started school. She then started working at SDSU Pre-School in 1975 until her retirement in 2004. She began working at Aramark in the Student Union at Jack's Place. She then worked as a cashier in The Market in the Student Union. She worked there until her health failed. Kay was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was active in circle and other church projects. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Roger, of 48 years; a daughter, Joanne (Steve) Lovro of Wentworth, South Dakota, and their children Josh, Ryan, and Megan; a son, Bill (Dee) Bauman, of Roscoe, South Dakota, and their children Nikki and Michael; a great-grandson, Gavin Bauman; three brothers: David (Dianne) Holter of Bruce, Lloyd (Becky) Holter of Volga, and Dwain (Shirley) Wieber of Brookings; a sister, Mary Ann (Dale) Williams of Estelline; numerous nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews which she considered her other grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister-in-law, Ila Mae Hansen; and a brother-in-law, Merlyn Bauman.
