Obituary

Kathy L. (Jones) Hetrick passed from this earth and met her Savior on Sunday, November 29, 2020.  Severe dementia had plagued her for the past several years and brought her loss to her husband and the family and friends who loved her.  A private family graveside service will take place on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings.

Kathy was born to Myrl and June (Moberg) Jones on December 28, 1951, in Brookings, South Dakota, where she grew up and graduated from Brookings High School.  She furthered her education in Music at the Miltonvale Wesleyan College in Miltonvale, Kansas.

Kathy loved God and served Him faithfully during her many years.  She was a member of the Brookings GracePoint Wesleyan Church since it's second year of establishment in Brookings in 1950.  She was a caring, well thought of, efficient worker in her years of work at The Wesleyan International Headquarters in Indiana; Bartlesville Wesleyan College, in Oklahoma; and South Dakota State University in the Sports and Residential Life Departments.  She also worked at several medical offices in different cities throughout the years.  Kathy married Dennis R. Hetrick in Brookings on December 22, 1984.

A summer time of working and living in Israel while working on a Tel in Aphek (a little northeast of Joppa, Israel), gave Kathy an intense interest in and love for Israel, and she would have loved to go back.

Kathy leaves her husband, Dennis; her mother, June Jones; a stepson, Darrin, his wife, April, and their two daughters Kayla and Abri; a sister, Laurie (Jones) Hauser and her husband, Neal; and a sister-in-law, Jeanne (Jones) VanDyke, and her husband Denny; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Myrl Jones; and her brother, Rick Jones.
