Kathleen Ann
Haug
August 6, 1948 – October 4, 2021
Kathleen Ann Haug, age 73, of Brookings, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, at the Brookings Hospital. Visitations will be on Friday, October 8, 2021, from 5-7 P.M. at Eidsness Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Bible Baptist Church in Brookings with burial to follow at Midway Lutheran Cemetery, rural Colman.
Kathleen Ann Haug was born August 6, 1948 in Yankton, South Dakota, to Gilbert and Marie (Schroeder) Hochstein. She grew up on her family farm near Hartington, Nebraska. On July 31, 1972 she was married to the love of her life, Robert Haug. They had three sons Corey, Kevin and Kyle. Kathleen worked side by side with Robert in many business ventures throughout her life before retiring in 2010. Due to her endless energy, even in retirement she and Robert helped their sons with their businesses daily.
Kathleen loved spending time with Robert, "her boys", her daughter-in-laws, Leah and Wendi, and her grandchildren. She had unconditional love for her family. Kathleen's greatest joy was her grandchildren. Grandma's house was always open and a second home to her grandchildren with a basement fully stocked with toys and treasures. She was very excited about becoming a great-grandmother this November to her little June Bug.
Kathleen was very mischievous, stubborn, a bit of a smart ass and never mixed words. She told it how she saw it and didn't hide her feelings. She was fiercely loyal and never backed down from a challenge. These traits stayed strong and helped her with her battle with Alzheimer's for many years.
Kathleen held a very strong Christian faith and knew she would be in heaven when her time came.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of 49 years, Sons Corey (Leah) Haug of Brookings, Kevin Haug of Omaha and Kyle (Wendi) Haug of Brookings. Grandchildren Dillon (Marti) Haug, Dalton Haug, Riley (Madisson) Haug, Ryder, Ryell and Rylen Haug, and Parker and Tilly Haug. Her siblings Kenneth (Diane) Hochstein, Marvin (Mardell) Hochstein, Reynold (Kathryn) Hochstein, Dennis (Lynnette) Hochstein, Charlotte (Greg) Gartner and Jolene (Richard) Donner. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, In-Laws Lyle and Marlys Haug, Granddaughter Taylor Haug, Grandson Thor Haug, and siblings Janice Hochstein, Karen Boening, and Lyle Hochstein.
