Katherine Hein, age 98, Brookings, South Dakota Katherine Hein, 98, of Brookings, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Brookview Manor in Brookings. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, with interment in the Charity Hill Cemetery. Visitations will be from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, with a prayer service at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the Charity Hill Cemetery at Wessington Springs. Katherine Leona (Noltensmeier) Hein was born September 21, 1904, at Grundy Center, Iowa, to Adolph and Kate (Steffen) Noltensmeier. She moved with her family to South Dakota at a young age. On November 30, 1926, she married William Hein in Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Lane, South Dakota. While farming in that area Katherine was active in the church ladies aid. She also belonged to an extension club. In 1957 William and Katherine moved to Brookings, where Katherine worked for the SDSU Food Service until retiring 17 years later. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings, Circle No. 7, and the mission interest group. She was an active member of the Sixties Plus Seniors group. Survivors include three daughters: Beverley Fischer of Sioux Falls, Marlene Cameron (Curt Vien) of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Gayle (Lloyd) Willman of Kimball, South Dakota; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters: Alta Beckman of Wessington Springs, South Dakota, Mildred Hougland of Brookings, and Berniece Leischner of Wessington Springs, South Dakota; nieces; nephews; special friends Jamie and Jamie; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1989; her parents, Adolph and Kate Noltensmeier; two brothers, Leo and Albert Noltensmeier; a sister, Lillian Hein; and a son-in-law, Bert Fischer
