Marvella Ruth Judy Nagel, age 66, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Avera-McKennan Hospital, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings, South Dakota, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Monday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Marvella Ruth Judy (Meyer) Nagel was born April 7, 1938 in Pipestone County, Minnesota, to Merrell and Tena (Veld) Meyer. She attended school in Ihlen and Pipestone, Minnesota. On July 8, 1958, Judy married Murray A. Nagel at Ivanhoe, Minnesota, and lived in Brookings, South Dakota. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary where she had held several offices over the years. Judy enjoyed crocheting, sewing for family and friends, playing bingo with friends and her granddaughter, listening to country music, squirrel and bird watching from her kitchen window, and always had fresh coffee on for friends who visited. She was proud of her large spoon collection, her state quarter collection, and numerous houseplants. Judy is survived by her three children: Robert Nagel of Sundance, Wyoming, Debra (Zack) Waldner and Jim Nagel of Brookings; one granddaughter, Samantha Nagel, of Hancock, Michigan; one dog, Kendra, and two cats, Candy and Cola; three brothers: Nick Meyer of Tyler, Minnesota, Ken Meyer of Tempe, Arizona, and David (Ruth) Meyer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and one sister, Kathie Jennings, of Moore, Oklahoma; and her father, Merrell Meyer, of Pipestone, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband in 1981.
