John K. Strande, age 61, of Brookings, died Thursday, December 9, 2004, at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in First Lutheran Cemetery at Volga. Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. Monday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. John Keith Strande was born February 12, 1943, at Volga, South Dakota, to Raymond M. and Evelyn (Sundet) Strande. He attended school through the eighth grade in Volga, and then moved with his family to Covina, California, in August 1957. He graduated from high school in Covina in 1961. He worked for a commercial credit company in Covina and operated a full service car rental company. He worked as a dispatcher for a trucking company, and then moved to Brookings in March 1991. He worked at Wal-Mart and currently was employed at Daktronics. John enjoyed league darts and gardening. Survivors include his son, Patrick Strande, of Riverside, California; four brothers: Lyle (Carol) Strande of Volga, and Russell (Shirley) Strande, Richard (Darla) Strande, and Lloyd Strande, all of Brookings; three sisters: Darlene Dolly Oines of Volga, Carol (Al) Roach of Brookings, and Camella Camey (Larry) Chaddock of Everett, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
