John D. Hof, age 80, passed away at his home on September 30, 2020, surrounded by his family.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., also at Eidsness Funeral Home.  Masks will be required for both the visitation and the funeral service.  The Zoom meeting to view John's service can be found at the following link:

John was born in Madison, South Dakota, to Fred and Esther Hof.  He married Mary (Brown) in 1961, and they celebrated 59 years together.

Throughout his life John enjoyed many interests, including fishing, hunting, golf, and woodworking.

John was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness in 1971.

John is survived by his wife, Maryetta; children: Christina (Richard) Foster, of Sioux Falls, SD, Machelle (Allen) Statley of Brookings, Pamela (Kent) Hof of Madison, Jason (LaNessa) of Dell Rapids, SD, and Nathan Hof, of Brookings; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister, Norma Palmer; and a brother, Ted (Wanda) Hof.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda; his parents; brothers: Fred, Jim, Frank, Emmett, Wayne, and Joe; sister, Laura Erickson; and 3 grandsons.
