Joan Kleinjan, age 62, of Huron and formerly of Volga, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021, at her home in Huron.  Visitations will be 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga.  Joan's funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the Volga Christian Reformed Church with burial to follow at Trinity Cemetery.  The family is asked to meet at the church by 9:45 for a family prayer service.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.   The funeral service will be live-streamed and can be found here: https://youtu.be/b2z__bUjpUk

Joan was born on December 9, 1958, in Brookings, to Eugene and Lois Kleinjan.  She attended school in Volga before moving to Rock Valley Iowa where she attended Hope Haven.  Joan spent time in various group homes in Sioux Falls, Brookings, and Redfield.  She was currently living in a group home in Huron, where she received excellent care.

Joan was a very happy, social, and outgoing individual.  She loved people, and no one was a stranger to her.  Joan loved music, the outdoors where she especially loved the farm she grew up on, animals, going for rides, spending time with family, and eating at Dairy Queen and Pizza Hut.  Attending church was a vital part of Joan's life, and when Sunday morning came, she always reminded family that it was time to go to church.

Survivors include her parents, Eugene and Lois Kleinjan of Volga; sister, Sue (Ed) Connot of Spencer, NE; brothers, Bruce Kleinjan of rural Volga, Terry (Lora) Kleinjan of Mansfield, MA, and Dan (Shari) Kleinjan of Badger, S.D.; 10 nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
