Joan Lisa Erks, age 54, of Brookings and formerly of Elkton, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the Hendricks ER in Hendricks, MN.  Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. on Tuesday, August 23 ^rd at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Elkton.  Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 24 ^th at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elkton with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

Joan was born on June 29, 1968, in Tyler, MN, to Alvin and Donna (Anderson) Erks.  As a young child, Joan lived in Verdi, MN.  The family later moved to Elkton, SD, where she graduated from Elkton High School in 1986.

Joan worked for Royal River Casino in Flandreau, SD for 10 years.  Due to declining health, Joan moved into the Cozy Corner in Elkton and then to Dakota Sun Assisted Living in Volga.  Later, Joan moved to the United Living Community in Brookings until the time of her death.

Joan loved to play Bingo, create beautiful art with colored pencils, and spend time with family.

Survivors include her sisters, Joyce Morris and Jane Herold both of Brookings; her significant other, Richard Chambers; and numerous other relatives.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Lee.
