Obituary

Jo Ann (Reinhardt) Woodard was raised in Connecticut as the middle child of three daughters. After college, she worked in various jobs most notably as a training specialist for a computer software company in Manhattan, NY. She married Howard J. Woodard in 1984 and they moved to Brookings, SD in 1989. She helped raise two children: David (wife Tanya) and Aimee. She made the best pot roast in the world, loved to watch football, eat anything with cherries in it, and all things French. She was always in the mood for a little fun and made social times remarkable. Jo's activities included involvement with a Crises Pregnancy Center, Mothers of Pre-Schoolers (MOPS) and international host family programs, a spiritual life coach/mentor for college students with the SDSU Navigators, a retreat speaker for women's events, and more recently with the Brookings County Youth Mentoring Program. Her interactions with people were marked with warmth, discernment, enthusiasm, a huge smile, and optimism. She cultivated friendships which were significant, and marked by fierce loyalty. She challenged us to think with a wide-angle lens. She will be deeply missed by family and friends who are privileged to have known her. Her memory causes us to smile, her impact is life-long. She is survived by her husband Howard J. Woodard, son David R. Woodard and wife Tanya of Vermillion, daughter Aimee Joy Woodard of Laramie, WY, step-mother Ruth Reinhart of Yarmouth Port, MA, sister Sue Groesbeck and husband Mark of Chattanooga, TN, and sister Trish Floyd and husband David of Wake Forest, NC. Visitations will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 7-9pm at the Bethel Baptist Church in Brookings, South Dakota. Memorial Services will be held at 7pm on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at GracePoint Wesleyan Church in Brookings. Eidsness Funeral Home is in charge of Jo's arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to either the SDSU Navigators, or to the Brookings County Youth Mentoring Program (address: 4018 Western Ave. S., Brookings SD, 57006).
