James Jim Gjertson, age 41, of Renton, Washington, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at his home in Renton. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, South Dakota. James Troy Gjertson was born December 4, 1963, at Brookings, South Dakota to Gjert Ted and Phyllis (Hammarlund) Gjertson. He attended school for five years in De Smet and graduated from Brookings High School in 1982. He worked at Godfathers Pizza and Falcon Plastics in Brookings. In 1990 he moved to Seattle, Washington, where he worked for Bank and Office Interiors. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR. He especially enjoyed time with his family and friends, and will be remembered as a practical joker. Survivors include his mother, Phyllis Gjertson, of Brookings; three brothers: Clifford Gjertson of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Scott (Judy) Gjertson of Brookings, and Todd Gjertson and his fianc, Dienna, of Brookings; three sisters: Denise (Dan) Olaer of Brookings, LaVay (Jeff) Mosley of Flandreau, South Dakota, and Rochelle (Douglas) Duin of Kent, Washington; many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry, and his father.
