Jeff was born November 11, 1963, in Brookings, SD, to Don and Judi (McKeown) DeZeeuw. He grew up in the Elkton, SD, area, was graduated from Elkton High School, then Lake Area Vo-Tech and Brown University, and attended Ashford University and Colorado Tech. His passion for learning continued throughout his life. Jeff enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1986. He initially joined the 1742nd Transportation Company and served with honor, beginning with Operation Desert Storm. Jeff received several honors along the way and retired after 23 years of military service. Jeff enjoyed a variety of jobs throughout the years. He particularly enjoyed his stint as DJ for KKCK in the 80s. He loved following the Packers, Twins and Jackrabbits, fishing, motorcycling, landscaping and gardening, and working on his home. Jeff was active in church, and volunteered at the Sioux Falls Humane Society and the Banquet. Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Don and Judi of Brookings; his sisters, Sherry (Michael) Mohror of Lake Preston, and Jackie (David) Rippert of Brookings; special friend Connie Kramer; nephews Ryan Nesseim and Ronald Nesseim of Lake Preston; niece Bobbi (Brian) Lingbeck of Ramona, Steffanie (Lee) Butler of Aberdeen, Desmond Mohror of Aberdeen, Haley Rippert and Brandon Rippert of Brookings; and great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rufus and Gertrude DeZeeuw and Verle McKeown and Adell McKeown. Jeff was a compassionate and kind son, brother, uncle and friend, who loved to laugh and make jokes. He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Jeff had life-long friends who supported him. Jeff also struggled with bi-polar disorder. We will miss him every day.
