Ingeborg Jayne Duffy, 89, died Friday, February 1, 2008 at her daughters home near Toronto, following a short illness. Jayne spent her summers at her daughters farm and enjoyed watching the deer, pheasants, turkeys and other animals that populated the farms shelterbelts. Her primary residence was Port Orange, Florida She was born in Germany in 1918 and grew up in the Black Forest region of Germany. She and her sister, Betty and brother William (both deceased) joined their father, Frederick Brehm (deceased) in the United States in 1931. She married Andrew LeRoy Smith (deceased) in 1936. The family lived in the Chicago area where they raised 3 children. Charles Smith, who passed away in 2001 at the age of 63, Michael Smith, who passed away in 2001 at the age of 51 and Judith Wood who has resided in rural Brookings County since 1987. Ingeborg married Earl Schultz in 1961. They relocated to St. Petersburg, FL. She served as credit clerk, assistant manager and manager of several Lerners Shops before her retirement in 1982. Earl passed away in 1985. Ingeborg married James Duffy in 1987 and they enjoyed life and traveling until his death in 1991. Jayne is survived by her half-sister, Rose Riechers, Beecher, IL, her daughter, Judith Wood, Astoria, SD, her daughter-in-law, Janet Smith, Dyer, IN, her daughter-in-law, Sheri Smith, Port Orange, FL, 7 grand children: Diana McClaran, Hobart, IN, William Smith, Gary, IN, Christine Waldschmidt, LaPorte, IN, Charles Smith, LaPorte, IN, Cinthy Carson, Laramie, WY, Sheri Hildebrant, Hot Springs, SD, Vernon Stratton, Los Angeles, CA, their spouses and a step-grandson, Kraig Wood, Rapid City. She leaves behind many great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews and numerous friends who miss her already and wish her well on her new journey.
